REVIEW : Juan – Basia [Chapter 24]

Up-and-coming and prolific French talent Juan is back on Chapter 24 with Basia.

Drawing from slavic, ethnic and afro vibes influences, Juan delivers another flamboyant track with a catchy melody and infectious hook, which echoes with the likes of his former Nuru (Kindisch) and recent hit Mirembe (Connaisseur Recordings).

Set off by a profound bassline and uplifting drum beat, we are lured into the track’s pacy and enchanting build-up, and indulge in Juan’s identifiable tribal signature sounds, as voluptuous layers of organic percussive sounds emerge fluidly and ascend into a harmonious climax.

The first part of the track introduces delightful traditional chants evocative of exotic tribes, while after the break Juan’s unique emulation of Marimba, Kalimba and Flute comes into play with magic.

Eventually Basia stands out as a perfect set opener or the secret weapon of a torrid night’s after-hours, as Juan promises “an ethnic travel through percussions, tribes and wildlife.”

Juan is a young French producer who shakes crowds with his particular tribal and spiritual sounds.

He has already released on high-end imprints such Connaisseur Recordings, Chapter 24, Kindisch, Underyourskin, and Voyeur Music.

“Basia” is now out on chapter 24 records compilation “Road to ADE”, and guess what ? it’s free. Enjoy ! ❤
