Basti Grub Interview & Premiere “Come Back” [Aprapta Music]
How are you, what’s good and bad in your world right now?
Hey Guys I’m pretty good. I will be a father soon and this is the best moment in my life.
You have a new ‘Time’ LP coming out in the next couple of weeks, tell us about how long it’s been in the pipeline for and how it came about?
I have been working on „Time” for about 6-7 months now and it will finally be released on October 18th. I started composing a few tracks when I realised I had to make a whole story out of them. This is how „Time” came together.
Are you someone who uses music as an escape, as a way to process the real world? Is that a way that inspires you?
Music is a great outlet for whatever is on my mind so I am definitely processing real- life experience through the music I make.
You are a live performer – do you write music as live jams then edit down or?
I don’t really follow a certain pattern when creating a track. I work quite intuitively.
How different is writing an LP than writing a 12″ or EP?
For me the only difference there is the time you need to create and arrange the tracks.
Why now for a new album, what made you think the time is right?
I don’t know if there is a right time for dropping an album. „Time” came together naturally and I had a feeling that I want to make an LP out of it.
How does it differ or show evolution from previous albums? Is that always important to you?
I would describe „Time” as a more mature LP witch has a darker sound than previous LP’s. I think evolving from one project to the next is something that all striving artists have in common.
You have gigs in Asia coming up? How did that come about? Have you played there before?
I played in Japan about 8-9 years ago and since then I am returning almost every year.
What’s next, what else have you got coming up/are you looking forward to?
There are definitely some projects in the pipeline but I would like to keep them a secret at least until my album drops.
